Operations Manager

Job Summary

Plans, monitors, and controls manufacturing operations. Works with department team leads to meet quality and productivity goals. Sets direction for manufacturing practices, materials management, and inventory control. Oversees production, operation, maintenance, and development of new and/or existing systems

Duties and Essential Job Functions

    • Ensure team members and activities are aligned with TSF Core Values & the shop is BCD-Free
    • LMA (Leadership, Management, Accountability)
    • Initiate plans and processes which increase throughout and minimize manufacturing cost through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, material, and capital.
    • Responsible for the scheduling of all production in factory (Fabrication & Paint Side) while maintaining a high % (83+) of on-time delivery
    • Ensure rework cost is < .8% of total revenue
    • Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers’ requirements.
    • Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports Tri-State Fabricators strategic initiatives
    • Establish individual and team accountabilities throughout departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
    • Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.
    • Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes.
    • Manage spending budget against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
    • Assure that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
    • Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
    • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
    • Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with the latest production and production management concepts.
    • Provide daily and weekly feedback to personnel throughout the organization.
    • Organize and conduct employee performance reviews.
    • Track individual and/or company (KPIs) / metrics. Strive for daily improvements
    • Other duties as assigned

Academic Competencies

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • 5+ years’ management experience in metal fabrication environment preferred

    • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
    • Must be able to problem solve and adjust as needed to complete orders / tasks
    • Flexible and adaptable to change jobs and material as needed to keep jobs flowing
    • Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office & ERP/MRP systems
    • Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State, and local codes, OSHA regulations and requirements

Environmental Conditions

    • Exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
    • Humidity level in factory may be elevated during summer months
