Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Participates as a critical member of management team working closely with all disciplines to meet production and profitability goals. Performs analyses and forecasts of job profitability. Supports sales, engineering and service areas with competent verbal and written communications on the progress of internal and external cost activities, expense and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for supervision of A/P, A/R, payroll processing, job costing and invoicing functions within the accounting department.
    • Responsible for month end financial reporting as required.
    • Preparation, analysis and review of monthly job gross margin reports, oversees the gathering of data by other functions for collation by Finance department members.
    • Review monthly gross margin reports to identify all anomalous results. Investigate causes and advise upper management on solutions.
    • Responsible for annual physical inventory supervision and costing of same. Devise, implement and maintain cycle counting and other methodologies to minimize need for annual physical inventory.
    • Assist fractional CFO in the preparation of annual operating budgets and business planning, focused on volume and margin expectations as well as operating department budgets.
    • Analyze monthly financial statements at the gross margin and gross profit level for completeness and accuracy and report deviations from budget.
    • Support all departments with cost to budget analysis including investigatory activities and solutions.
    • Responsible for all corporate accounting reporting and accounting requirements
    • Work with CPA for tax compliance
    • State & Local tax returns including CAT taxes
    • Employee Benefits (401K plan, workers comp, unemployment)
    • Insurance audits
    • Process improvement
    • Special projects
    • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Academic Competencies

    • 4-year degree (Accounting Major)
    • Minimum of 5 years Accounting work experience (Company Sales = +$10MM) supporting standard and/or actual cost systems in a manufacturing environment.
    • Prefer minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
    • Strong oral and written communications skills
    • Strong understanding of all departmental functions and responsibilities within a business unit
    • Experience with all functions of an ERP software system.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (Both verbal and written)
